ISO varies from 3200 to 5000 on these, this was my first time using a Nikon D7000 and Sigma 70-200 f2.8 so it was a learning curve of an evening. Noise Reduction was not applied to these afterwards, these are JPEGs straight out of camera.

    Thanks for looking.

Great looking shots Gerry, I love the expressions on the players faces.
Some might argue that there should be a ball in the shots but that’s for another day.

I deliberately picked three that didn’t have a ball! To me some of the best sports photos I’ve seen do not have the “instrument” of play in them. My style is more offbeat; like you said, the expressions, the feelings, the heartbreak or the ecstasy. Thanks for the kind comments, it was my first time using a D7000 at a game and I know where I got it right and more importantly, know where I kinda got it wrong. The camera is fantastic, but will take a bit of getting used to. The big plus to it, is the quality of the high ISO shots; fantastic.

Interesting shots, more sports portraits than anything else I feel. The out of focus areas look a little weird in the second shot though, and wonder if your noise reduction and sharpening settings are not behind it.
