Anyone bought equipment in A.J.Purdy’s sale, they appear to have closed. I’ve been lucky enough to receive my order just wondering if others were ok, I’ve always found them good to deal with.
Looks like the current world economic crisis may make internet buying a lot riskier?

Purdy’s WERE one of the good guys, but despite just moving into new custom premises recently have closed down in the last few days. Rumour has it that another well know UK Photo retailer is about to go soon. Make sure any orders you place online only charge your card when the goods are being shipped.

Good advice Paddy but how can one be certain a supplier will comply with one’s wishes, i.e. are there measures the buyer can take to ensure his card is not charged long before the goods are shipped.
I know you can check with you credit card company but you still have to allow for delays in shipping which may be no fault of the supplier?

That is the question!! But talking in person to the seller and (having got their name), firmly insist the card is only charged when the goods are being dispatched is a bout as good as you can do. Using a Credit card rather than a bank transfer will probably give you some extra protection also.

or even safer buy from someone local, support the local guys so this doesnt happen to them, and get great customer service too
