Not quite as it came out the studio, but had a little fun with this – love to hear any thoughts:

    C&C welcomed, as always.

    Tim,

    I like the palimpsestic treatment,
and its a really good look from Ali,
tho I think the overlay over the face is perhaps too heavy-
maybe a (major) decrease in opacity would suit it better?

    just my tuppence worth,
    as they say-

Yes they do, don’t they. Almost like apologising for having an opinion.

Well. No apologies. I like the way you’ve dealt with it, Tim. It could be a book cover.

Try saying that 10 times after a few pints!! lol

Thanks for the suggestion – I’ll have a play and see what I think.

I really like this but agree the background is a bit too strong.

Just out of interest, what is the background, self made or used a templete etc etc??

I have to say I find this very interesting.
I love the texture that her hair and the shirt add to the background.
And in all this ‘clutter’ her eye(s) still manages to pierce you right away.

    Thanks for the comments.

The background is a combination of photographs, combined with different blending modes.

If you look carefully in there, you’ll see sections of sketch books, a book on critique, cracked brick walls, blistered paint, rusty garage doors, circuit boards, concrete, crumpled paper… I could go on! In total, about 30 layers.

Super idea, though I’d be in favour of lightening the overlay over the face also.
    Otherwise this looks fantastic.

I really like this and the colouring you have used in the overlay tones very well with Ali’s complexion but I agree that the overlay around her chin and right eye as you are looking at the image are a little heavy and don’t let her own natural tones through as well as in the rest of the shot. It’s a reall effective look and something very different.

    Well taken

    Hi Tim,

I’m afraid I really dislike the treatment you’ve given it. She looks like she’s been at the Mars bars.
I really don’t see the point, but then I never was a fan of sandwiches (other than the O’Brien’s type) either.
