Check this kit out. After a minute he starts playing a very cool song.
He used to play for Frank Zappahttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N97kdlGjspE&feature=related
cathaldParticipantI didn’t think much of him to be honest lots of gear but not doing much with it
As a bit of a drummer back in the days when my hair was long I came across a few guys
who were simply stunning with just a 5 pce kit and god knows what they could do with a kit like thatCathal

Well if you played for Zappa, you are really somebody
Mick451Participant5faytheParticipantHi Peter,
The world is full of good musicians.
Never could understand the type of arguments that go “..best guitarist/drummer/bodhran/…. player in
world…” or “… X is a better guitarist/drummer/bodhran/…. player than Y”.
Futile arguments.I cringe when I see or hear stuff like “Eric Clapton is the best guitar player ever” followed by
“Eric Clapton is a s*** guitarist, Joe Bloggs is much better”.I saw a drummer playing with Don Williams once. Had Hi Hat, Bass Drum and a Snare Drum.
He did an amazing job.I’ve played with guitarists who could make a guitar sing and drummers who could do
amazing stuff but their names would mean nothing to the vast majority of people and
they never played with Frank Zappa. The guy is more than likely a very good musician to get a gig with Frank Zappa
but how does the act of playing with Frank Zappa make him “really somebody”.I didn’t think the stuff he did on the video was that amazing either.
I don’t mean any disrespect to your opinion that this guy is an amazing drummer.
I know I should have stayed out of this. I’m off now.
Cheers,
John.

Never stay out of these kind of discussions. And you are absolutly right. there is no best musician in the world. maybe one guitarist or drummer might be faster then another one, but that is it.
I just liked the fact that Bozzio played those tunes and thought it was really jazzy.I regard Zappa as an authority in music. (I have to say “regarded” because he is dead. And to show how groundbraking he was, he was the first rock star that died of old man’s disease, namely prostate cancer) So everybody playing with him is special to me. And over the years big names played for him. But then again. I’m a life long fan and my opinion is pretty biast
But there are other drummers aswell who i think are very good.
I like Bert Ruiterberg and Bill brufford aswell
but look at this band they’re very young. I think between 14 and 17 or something. or maybe that was last year. The drummer just got a contract with paiste. the youngest drummer ever who received that. I bet we might hear more of them in the future
jessthespringerParticipantHow about this for drumming… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBwnKQEJkiM&feature=related
De-aRtParticipantAt the end of the day, whether or not you like his music, style or whatever – you have to respect the man’s ability. We may prefer Bonham, Ward or Peart but that may be clouded by the fact that they played in some of our favourite bands. So was it that the drummer was great or was it that the music was?
Also they’re drummers – they only hang around with musicians anyway!!!! :-)
Joking people – before I get a mad barrage of drummers with hurt feelings (egos)!!
As if drummers had feelings…
Ron (Dee’s staying out of this one!)
