I wandered into an incredible collection of abandoned buildings 6 or 7 builings, very strange the doorway were grown over, no beer cider cans anwhere no grafitti, it was like everyone walled out 20 years ago and never went back in, rotting filing cabinets, toolboxes with tools untounced, very strange plcae.
I’ll definate be going back #i spent nearly 3 hours in there. I decided to travel light so no flash or tripod, just one lens Canon 24-104 L IS USM lens and a 5DM2.
hope ye like them Al,

Alwynnp72ParticipantSome good shots there. The colour in the first one makes it look rather creepy. Was there more than 1 gas mask about? The one on the chair, the grain adds something to it, and the place almost looks like it was abandoned in a hurry.

Cheers nige. I only found two masks so I recycled it for the pics.it was a chemical plant of somesort, loads that I haven’t explored yet. I’d love to have a model there.
It definately had the feel of deserted in a hurry.
Yeah the place was a bit creepy especially inside the buildings, I’ll post more up today
BillyCParticipantReminds me alot of the STALKER PC game for those into gaming – there’s a section based in Pripyat, an industrial city near Chernobyl which was abandoned after the disaster there.
The first image in particular is quite moving/thought provoking, the muted colour definately suits it. The grainy feel to the others give them an almost documentary feel to them imo which suits the mood.
Well worth the effort of getting in!

From what I can make out of the masks, are there names on them? It definitely looks like something is written on the side of them, and 2 shots look like they have the same thing on them, so I thought that it was the same mask in 2 of the shots and a different one in the other. I wonder what the place was used for? As you say, it could have been a chemical plant, either that or the masks were used by cleaners in some part of the building.
Its possible the place could have closed very suddenly, possibly owners went out of business or were shut down suddenly, and thats why there is so much stuff laying about. Did you mention in other topic that there was an office with files just left as they were?
MarkKeymasterExcellent. what a great looking place. Indeed its very like Pripyat. There are some photos of that place on PI somewhere if you do a search.
I probably prefer the ones without the person tbh and not keen on so many shots with the gas mask. Looks like a good place for a
model shoot too.Hey if you need someone to go along with let me know :) Em, not as a model of course :D

Hey Mark sorry for just replying now, but yes definately would be up for you to come along. Exurban is fun but more fun with someone to watch your back :)
RobMemberGood documentary set of images, very stark feel to them. Too many though
to give individual critiques. If I were to pick a favourite I’d have to go for
image number three. Don’t ask why. I just like the abstractness of it…
