American Football – Irish style

ExpresbroParticipant
Went shooting with Graham today beside the National Basketball Arena in Tallaght. The Tallaght Outlaws took on the DCU Saints, and despite a valiant fight by the home team the Visitors notched up their first Shutout game.
It was great fun to shoot, despite the sporadic showers of hail and rain and the odd burst of thunder.
It was a long way from the Dallas Cowboys…but I’ll definitely be giving it another go soon.
Just a few images I’ve had time to edit.

irish147ParticipantBrickeeParticipantDenverDollParticipantThat does look fun!
Wish I’d been there.
That last shot is the tastiest! It oozes class~~
Really well seen and executed there!
Great set…show us more!
First and ten
let’s do it again
we like it we like it:lol:
Well better yet..next time I go too so you know what’s goin on
Alan RossiterParticipantRobbie? What’s happened? Colour and sport???
These are really impressive. Not your common or garden sports shots but very well thought out. I’m suitably impressed!
Alan
mgstParticipantjessthespringerParticipantExpresbroParticipantThanks lads…and lasses
Alan… I know…was tempted to do these in black and white..but it’s hard enough seperating the combatants when they are in different colours….;-)
Sometimes it was hard to know where to point the damn lens…
It’s a strange sport really..nothing happens for ages…which is great..cos it gives you time to manoeuvre around..then there’s a mad flurry of activity with legs and arms and heads everywhere…then nothing for ages again…
Perfect for photography actually…
and you’re right Shar..for most of the time I didn’t have the faintest idea what was going on…
Anyway..I’ll stick a few more up later…if you insist…
paulParticipantSome really great images there. Love the sense of action and also the mud/dirt.
I’m sure it was interesting to photograph.
irishshaguaParticipantNice set there Robbie. Last one is definitely my favourite. Unfortunate about the blown sky in the background, detracts ever so slightly from the pic. Didn’t know there was much American Football played in Ireland. :?
Cheers for sharing
BrianExpresbroParticipantCheers Paul..it was really interesting..even with the dodgy weather.
Brian…yeah..is quite popular actually..and as far as I know we even have an international team that play in the European Championships!!
I must get the link for the site from Graham…it was one of his pals who plays that invited us out to photograph the game.
joe_elwayParticipantLast one rocks Robbie. You gotta, gotta, gotta know that I’d love to shoot this sport. A name like “Joe_Elway” and a manic Niners fan … come on!!!! :-)
nfl-fanParticipantNice to see something different on PI every now and again… and if it’s something close to me heart then even better.
I have to say you’ve done pretty well there Robbie…
#1 – Throwing downfield
#2 – Some action at the line of scrimmage
#3 – The defence in green are out like a shot after the ball has been snapped, the offensive line are holding their ground
#4 – Something different to top it off nicely (Loving the “DOF” there)Now… in American Football the Quarterback is GOD… and the only problem is here that you don’t have any shots of the QB… dropping back to pass, maybe handing off to the Running Back, or throwing the ball. These are a must for any American Football coverage.
Still.. seems like fun.. if you’re planning on going to another game sometime give me a heads up and we might meet up.
J
Alan RossiterParticipantif you’re planning on going to another game sometime give me a heads up and we might meet up.
Just had the same thought myself John. Maybe a venture for something else other than landscape??
Alan.
nfl-fanParticipantAbsolutley. If the camera can focus on it then I’ll be there.
Robbie, you are now PI’s Roger Godell (NFL Commissioner)… so if you’re out and about again, shout.
