An old milk cart I noticed on holiday!

    Hi Everyone,
This is one of my favourites and I’d love some feedback! It was on an open farm when we were on holiday last year in Co Clare and I couldn’t resist :)

 Nice picture. Looks a little bit unsharp or something. That might be something to do with resizing for the web maybe. The background is well blurred and the colours are nice and vibrant. Brought a smile ot my face anyways…. Always a good thing with a picture.

Thanks for that :) :) It’s good to smile! The original image is pretty sharp so I do think the saving for web is the problem here!

Nice shot, love the colours too. But it would be great to get a bit more of the cart in the picture.
I too noticed it was a bit unsharp.

I love it but this one does look like it has a resize problem alright.

Have you resized first and then sharpened?

Thanks Martin, Aimee, MDCPhotography and b318isp for the feedback :)

Have you resized first and then sharpened?

To be honest I can’t remember – would that make a difference? Normally I would go into lab colours, choose lightness, apply sharpening, go back to RGB, then resize… but I did this one some time ago and probably did it differently then…

After resizing, try a gentle unsharp mask. Slide in from low to high and stop when you have just enough.
SteveD gives a bit of a tutorial on it somewhere – I’ll try to find it.

Always sharpen last to preserve detail. If working from the original, resize to a new file name depending on what you intend to do with the puicture (e.g. printing, web display, etc.). Do your tweaking, and when happy, sharpen last and save. I tend to crop first (and see what this does to the histrogram), adjust/use layers, resize and then sharpen.

Thanks for that tip… I’ll give it a try and see what happens – but it certainly makes sense and I appreciate your advice :)
