    Hi Everyone

I’m delighted to see this forum starting up. I hope it has every success – the early flurry of activity would suggest that it should do well.

I’m an amateur photographer from Co Armagh. I am a Nikon user (D70 at the moment) but I don’t subscribe to the Canon v Nikon debates. I also have a small private studio in commercial premises in Craigavon.

My main photography interests are boats/seascapes, architecture, fashion and retro themes. On that last point I might add that I’m a huge fan of Jack Vetriano’s art and film noir, and am trying to produce some images in those styles.

I know a few members here who were also on other forums. I used to be known as Arrjay and Dr Jeykll elsewhere, but that’s a closed chapter in an old story… :-)

When I read this intro initially, I didn’t spot the Arrjay/DrJekyl bit (was that what you edited in?)

I read about the private studio in Craigavon and guessed it was you, but when you didnt list model work as one of your interests I scratched that idea off.

Anyway, welcome to the forum Bertie

    Hi Everyone

Thanks for the welcome. I’m quite looking forward to being involved in this forum and have recommended it to 4-5 other photographers already. I also plan to join Banbridge Camera Club in September and will be mentioning the forum to the members there.

Thanks. But, no, the edit didn’t add the Arrjay/Dr Jeykll details. It removed a reference to my interest in model-related photography which I didn’t feel was appropriate for this form. Indeed, I’m really here for general photography, technical discussions, etc.

    Hi Gerry

It was thanks to your email that I found this forum and joined up.

Dunno if Jeeves and Wooster was as popular in the ROI as it was in the UK a few years ago. I have the complete series on DVD but had read all the books previously anyway as I am a long time fan of P.G. Wodehouse books. Bertie Wooster was a slightly less famous creation than Jeeves himself, but Hugh Laurie’s acting in the series almost reversed that. Bertie Wooster is the ultimate, affable, harmless, dim, incompetent idler. I think I chose the nickname well!! lol

    Thanks Ali

I’m finding this forum addictive already.

I don’t think there’ll be any need for Dr Jeykll mode. I rather like it here and am happy to blether away and otherwise stay out of controversy. :-)

As Simon says too, great to see many of the most active contributors from elsewhere on board here. (No pun intended)

Hi Bertie, well isn’t this just rummy?
Love Wodehouse! Just finished with Jeeves takes charge. Loved it and looking forward to reading the rest!

Hi Berite, welcome. I am wondering what you shoot in your studio in Craigavon?????

Ah, CreativeA, old chap. This is absolutely spiffing. Another Wodehouse fan! :-)

Have you ever read the one with the chapters on the ?Great Sermon Handicap?, where they bet on which local vicar will preach the longest sermon on a particular Sunday? Highly irreverent, including rigging the betting, but very, very funny.

I used to shoot some fashion and figure nude in the studio, and still do at times. But I?m mainly interested in retro themes ? Jack Vettriano and film noir images. I have a few old props gathered up and am trying to build a few retro sets for such photography. I also have access to a few vintage cars for this as well.

BTW, I generally hope to steer clear of modelling, figure nude and, particularly, glamour discussions on this forum as I think the forum will be better served by not including such photography themes. Fashion is already addressed and I think Mark got the pitch just right at that. If anyone wishes to discuss model-related or figure-nude themes with me, an email offline will be more than welcome.

    Thanks for the welcoming comments.

    Thanks Winkauss.

I’ll post a few images in due course – may be in a couple of weeks time, though, as I’m working in the US and away from my main PC for 2 weeks.
