Ok my camera and gear arrived monday(handy having a Derry Address on bank holidays)
Off i went to test out the camera going through 2 rolls of ilford delta 100
Its a bugger when you keep looking at the back of the camera for the image on the lcd
So i now think that this film has to be sent away to get developed?the normal developers dont do this type of film
Anybody recomend a place to send it to
it will be a bit of a bugger if a load of cack comes back

Well your Derry address could come in handy again

You could send the film back to the mothership for developing….

Good for you Cathal. If your local lab don’t deal with b/w 35mm film then I would say, you should sooner or later learn how to develop it yourself. Search on youtube first for film development just to see that it’s not a big deal, you would definitely enjoy doing it. You could also save time and money.

You should deffinatly learn to do it yourself, aside from it being great fun, you also have alot more creative control and figure out what works best for you.

I agree completely with ben4130, but after this you have only small step to build of your own darkroom
I know this from my own experience

    Cathal,

I’ve also used peak-imaging in the UK in the past (ok twice :) ). Probably better to use and support Ilford
like Fintan suggests as you using Ilford product.

I’m going on the FPWorkshops film dev/print workshop this weekend in Dublin. Might be worth looking
    into at some stage…

What all do you need for a darkroom as i have a good size shed with an empty corner
I dont have a clue about this so a list of gear needed to start would be great

    Well Cathal you’re already there!
once you have space, and make sure it’s completely dark, all the rest is in the shops somewhere!
for the development: the tank and some reels, a thermometer, 2 graduated cylinders, a timer/stopwatch, scissors, a bottle opener, some paper clips, bottles for chemicals, and of course a sink with hot/cold water. oh yes, the chemicals: a developer, a fixer and the wetting agent. if you wish, the stop solution as well but you can use water.

for the printing: enlarger with lens, a masking frame, the enlarger timer, a safelight, 3 trays (dev-stop-fix) with a tong each, the timer/stopwatch as above, the thermometer as above and a sink. a rope and clips to hang your prints. again here you’ll need chemicals and paper.

this is it. Now, I recommend at least a good book, and the workshop if you can because I can’t give you any advice on the actual technique….

    have fun!!

I used to do some of that. Still have some gear I must search out. The trick for the darkroom: plenty of space, running water – a good-sized sink – and peace and quiet from the kids!!
