AliParticipant
Myself John and Sharon hit the lakes in an attempt to catch sunset. Here’s one of the shots. Critique welcome.
RobertoMemberJay KingParticipantLove the varity of tones you’ve managed to get in there above the horizon… plenty to look at. The reflection works well too…
Although I think you have a stalker… looks like something’s hiding in the grass there – just where the grass meets the trees on the RHS…
AliParticipantThanks a mil for comments guys,
Jay – Lol, how did i miss that one.. I must look at the high res version and see what exactly is going on ;)
Madra RuaParticipantWow. Those pastel tones in the sky are gorgeous!
I hope I am allowed to say this, but I think the inclusion of the water and reflection is distracting from the beautiful sky.
When I looked at the image on my screen and the almost turquoise sky appeared I thought: wow!
When I scolled down it seemed like a different picture emerged from the one I was hoping for.
May I suggest a crop on the horizon line, to give you a sliver of silhouettes underneath a gorgeous wellies-blue sky and clouds.… though, looking at it now at full screen it’s not so bad after all
andy mcinroyParticipantAli,
Super. What an unusual set of shades for sunset. They work very well together. It’s almost like a “cool” sunset.
I like this very much.
Andy
AliParticipantThanks a mil guys for the feedback.
Hauke – i know exactly where you are coming from, I think i’d probably need a little bit more mid-ground or growth to pull off
the crop. Feel free to edit the shot though, would be delighted to see your version.Andy – thanks a mil, i’ve done very little low light photography, fingers crossed i’ll get the chance to visit the coast at some point…it takes a serious amount of get up and go! One of these days!
RavenAshMemberSuper Shot Ali. :)
Great reflection and like the merging colours in the sky.AliParticipantjoe_elwayParticipantRobMemberBeautiful colours Ali, subtle and appealing, the sort of image
where I’d have been tempted to boost the contrast of the greens
in the middleground… and I’d have been wrong. Subtle is better.
Just one thing though, I do think the ‘vinaigrette’, as the legendary
Paddyjoe would have called it, is a little too heavy, particularly
in the top corners. Otherwise lovely…Rob.
AliParticipantThanks guys,
Rob, Glad you like. The vignette wasn’t intentional – just the way the clouds were at the time. I must see how dark the original corners are. Maybe my dodgy kit lens is on it’s way out :D
Alan RossiterParticipantNice shot Ali. I haven’t commented earlier because something wasn’t quite right and I couldn’t nail it down. What I reckon it is is the cyan tint in the sky. It just doesn’t seem to fit in my eyes. It’s a tough one to call what’s natural or not, given some photographic presentations. Secondly, the reflection hue doesn’t match the sky which further knocks it off for me…but I do seem to be in the minority on this.
Compositionally I find it perfectly presented. :D
Alan.
