Shot another role during the week on my lunch break. Below is the best from the role….

EDIT: Added a few from yesterday (Tuesday, the sky was super so had to skip lunch and take some more shots….)

Taken on the holga, fuji neopan 400 dev’d in rodinal…

Great shots. That Holga has a really pronounced “sweet spot” focus.

Thanks Dave, It really does seem to have a nice sweet spot alright. The prints I have made from the Holga shots are nice and sharp in the middle. Very happy with my one. I seem to be very lucky with the focusing also, its seems to have a nice large forgiving DOF which is very handy

    Cheers

    Nice shots,
The bicycle, the Olympia side door and Rory’s work best for me, although Rory’s could do without the distracting geezer in the white shirt on the left.
I always expected Rory’s to be a victim of the Celtic tiger with rents and parking regulations etc., great that it survived.

ohhhhhhhhhh, the bicicle pic is really lovely! I just finished my first B&W film roll on my Holga and I have to bring to develop and print…. I hope that my pictures will be at least the half beautiful yours are…
    cheers

So yee like the bicycle one:-)

Eddie: Was surprised how the Olympia picture came out, I took it not expecting anything to come from it, glad I took it now, its surprising sometimes and great when shots some out well that you least expected too

Martin: Yea the geezer is a small bit distracting,I dont mind him to much though, getting to like him:-) Surprised myself why Rorys is still there but the shop always has people in it, seems to have looked after his customers over the years so they come back over and over again

Alessia: Congrats on your first role through the Holga remember to post some shots:-) best advice I can give you on the Holga is that it works best in bright sunny conditions, shots taken in dull light dont come out well generally in my opinion…

Thanks again all, posted a few more pics, unfortunately the last two shots have a scratch running across them:-(

Hi Martin. Lovely set. Really like the one of Rory’s and the bike shot. If you keep this up on your lunch breaks though, you’ll look like the people in #8. :D

    Hi Martin,

You have a good set of images here which
    I enjoyed viewing.

I personally prefer the 1st set.
They seem to have a better contrast or maybe I just
    prefer the subject matter.

and I like the bikes too ‘specially the 1st one. :)

Another fine set, I guess the architectural subject matter is more interesting for me (6, 7, 9 really cool) in these last few and beautiful toning.

Thanks for the feedback. I like both sets, in the 2nd set I was concentrating on using the sky as it was amazing i think. Contrast wise the second set were slightly under developed (8 mins when should have been 9 mins). When printed they will be be printed fairly hard so will have allot more contrast

Thanks for the comment on toning. Its just pulling down the curve in the red and green channel in PS, warms them up a bit.. when they are printed the tone will be different, just do the slight brown look for he web…

    Cheers again all

Fabulous cross section here – 1, 5 & stand out. The shot of the immigrants on the quays standsd out the most, its eerily haunting and suits this thype of photography perfectly.

The first two are the kind of shots that I think the Holga plays its trump card, especially the second as the focus and softness wrap around the corner. I think the straight on shots work best and the immigrants shot shows the strength of the sweet spot. There’s definately an aged look about them, one that isn’t easy to replicate. Nice set Martin…it gives me ideas for PS!
