Another smoker

Following on with the smokers theme. Here’s one from a couple months back.
I’ll confess there’s not a lot going on past the visual pyrotechnics – but let me know what you think!
Ross, suckin’ on a fat cigar
ImagineParticipantI love how you have caught the smoke looks great and I also like the tilted perspective.
I might have liked to have been able to see a little more of the smokers face though if only to know what effect it would have as i honestly don’t know if it would improve it or make it worse.
Is the blue colour of the smoke enhanced (probably a stupid question but I’m good with those).
Regards,
D.
Alan RossiterParticipantFunnily enough I’d like to have seen less of the smokers face. The side on line of the contours of the face would add better to the lines of smoke but that’s just an opinion. Interesting idea though…but if you’re working does this image constitute a fracture of the law? :D
Alan
FlipflipParticipantI think either would work, more or less of the face, but at the moment its too much in the middle.
Still though, not to knock it at all, its still a very well taken shot.
Fair play.
PeteMcDMemberCheers folks. I did a few with a reflector bouncing some light into the face, but they didn’t have the graphic quality that this once has.
I hear what you’re saying about the light skimming the face even less – more like a rim light. Sounds good – I do like the detail in the eye, and the texture of the skin. Plus, I’d be getting some serious lens flare if the flash was any more straight on.
Imagine – This was lit with one flash, and the WB was warmed up just a touch. The smoke really was that blue.
wonka – I certainly don’t do this for ‘work’!
Thanks flipflip!
ExpresbroParticipantReally like that shot Pete…very atmospheric.
Could see this as a cover of a Tom Waits CD…
MeoParticipantThis is a great shot, very suggestive, very watachable!!!! Keep ’em coming
