Well I can recommend a good one in that the quality of the frames are exceptional, but he’s not the cheapest and doesn’t provide the fastest service. I’d be really interested in hearing from other people though, as it would be good to have a different framer going forward.

When I read the title the first time I thought

“Anybody know of a good farmer in Meath/Dublin”

Oh yeah trying to get ahead in Round 3 of the competition [countryside] are we?

I can reed and right I can.

I’m sure someone would frame you if you asked politely, but sorry, I don’t know of any good framers in Meath/Dublin. Good luck!

A lot would depend on the quality you are looking for. As mentioned in earlier responses, good quality usually means high prices.

I frame all my own prints (despite the fact that is a royal pain in the a&%e at times) but I try to keep the sizes to a standard. Usually use either an 11*14 or a 12*10 inch mount board with approx. 10*8 opening and then I usually buy my frames from Regency Frames in Baldoyle. They also do bespoke sizes, (frames & mounts) but as yet I haven’t asked them to actually frame a print which is a service they also provide.

One example recently was a client who wanted a black aluminium frame 20*16 inches. (again pushed for a relatively standard size) I mounted the print myself with a mount board and framed it and it looked very well. The frame itself cost EU50 and they told me that if I had brought the print with me (suitably mounted) they would frame it for an extra EU6.

The guy I deal with is Richard Crompton and the email is regencyframeseircom.net.

It might be worth an email – but as I said, I haven’t actualy asked them to frame something for me so I can’t vouch for the final result.

    Regards

    thanks for the info.
I am looking for a decent enough quality. but it is a basic block shaped, beech coloured frame for a a few A4 and A3 photos. took a few photos for a construction company and now they want some framed for thier offices. Ill check out that company. Used a local lad before, he was quite good but expencive. Just trying to cut down on cost a bit without loosing out on the good quality.

If your volumes are high enough, it might be worth looking at Framanc as an option. I’ve bought direct from them in the past and have been very pleased with the results.

On the money there Thorsten, they are very competitive or you could also try Scopas mouldings in Kilkenny,1,000 mouldings to choose from.

Cannon & Harte, beside Des Kelly in Navan have a fantastic reputation. They have good taste and will advise on framing to suit the print. Not overly expensive and very professional

    Danny,
Thanks for the tip. I think it is Callan & Harte and they have moved from Railway Street to Balmoral Industrial Estate on the Kells Road. I dropped a couple of pictures in to them so I will let you know how I get on.

Thanks, i visited Callan & Harte today in Balmoral Industrial Estate. She gave me a rough estimate of ?30-40 for the A4’s and around ?50 for the A3’s. Still looking around anyway at them other companies. Waiting to get back a few prints from the lab first (GMS pro imaging on Pearse st. – has anyone used these??) I heard they were pretty good.

Thanks jools. I was just talking to someone today who told me that they had moved. I think they take about 10 days to 2 weeks to get the job done though.

Yes it is a bit slow. I got two items framed and picked them up yesterday. One was an A$ size photo and the other was a larger drawing. I was very happy with the quality and they helped me choosing the appropriate frames. I will use them again.
