Anyone know where this is?

……well it exists only inside my mind!

I thought it would be interesting to post one of my 3-D renders here to see what you think. Although you couldn’t really call this photo-realistic, I have only picked up the basics, and a new program called Terragen 2 is really set to improve upon the quality. Has anyone else tried this type of thing?

    My image:

Some images from Terragen 2. How would you feel if one of these beat your photograph in an ‘imaging contest?’

No problem if it was entered in a “Creative” category, if in a basic category then I dont think it should be allowed as its not a photograph.

Have to agree – digital art /3d art is just not the same as photography – aside from some people confusing the 2 sometimes theres no similarity at all. An oil painting and a photograph have about as much in common in my opinion.

Agreed, its creative art not photography

I didn’t say it could be entered into a photography competition!!! I said an ‘imaging’ contest.

My point was that 3D renders are becoming more and more realistic, and eventually it will be difficult to distinguish between a photo and a render!

I’ve been using Terragen,Anim8or and truespace for a few years now and whwn combined with PS its very hard to tell reality from CG in a lot of images.Check out some of the 3d sites and you’ll see what I mean
