Anyone Polaroid 550 holder to borrow?
-
VladMember
Hi folks,
I’m looking for Polaroid 550 holder /or any vintage alternative which would work with standart 4×5 back/ to borrow for a week or two. I have a pack of 559 film fridged for ages and would like to use it for some arty stuff I’m working on.
I would very much appreciate your help and would gladly provide one of my photogrpahs for this kind favour.
Or perhaps I can scan your films, any up to 8×10 /EpsonV750/?
Or develop /C-41, Rodinal/ your negatives, any up to 4×5/color/, 8×10/B&W/?Cheers,
All the best everyone,Vlad
Dermot1ParticipantHi Vlad
I have a 545 holder, but as far as I know and stand to be corrected won’t work with your film type, however I do have a fuji pa 45 that I use with the fuji peel apart instant film if this is of use to you. If you have the time to research if the 545 will work and it does it’s available to you to use.Dermot
VladMemberHi Dermot,
Thanks for your reply and willingness!! I use pola sheet films quite extensively with 545 holders, your Fuji pa 45 however is the one I’d be able use with type 559, which is exactly same size cartridge film as FujiFP100C.
I’ll be indeed grateful for this Dermot.
Talk soon,Vlad
Dermot1Participantno worries vlad, where you based.
might be worth taking a look at this, haven’t tried it yet but will soon,

The Fuji PA 45 holder does not work with the Fuji FP-100C film. Contrary to what many of the online stores that sell them seem to indicate. It works with the slightly larger (and more expensive) Fuji FP 100C45 film. Check it out here:

I think the FP-100C film is only for instant film cameras .. as far as I know.
I’m not sure where that leaves Vlad and whether the Polaroid 550 film he mentioned is compatible with FP-100C or FP-100C45 …
By the way, if anyone could let me know what other films (besides FP-100C45) I can get for my PA 45 holder I’d be really grateful. That stuff is stupidly expensive …
Dermot1ParticipantI use the pa 45 regularly and get my film from a store in canada through their ebay presence you have to order a minimum number of packs but it works out cheaper, I’ll try to dig out a link, the negative reclaim works with the 45 also, the original blog that posted it shows a video for both Fuji FP-100C and FP 100C45 film. Not sure about other films that can be used in it I’m afraid.
hughParticipantSo if I understand it right, negative reclamation is for getting a negative that can then be scanned from some 100C or 100C45 film? So essentially it means you are getting a Type55 type deal … instant print + negative? That’s pretty cool.
I’d be grateful if you could dig out the link for where you are buying your 100C45 film from. Cheers!
VladMemberHugh, thanks for input and good intention. I’m sorry I made a mistake in my last post, 559 and 100c45 are same in size. There is not much of relevant information regading holder use for pola films, but I doublechecked that comparing an empty fujifilm C45 chassis with Polaroid one. The only significant difference would be the material it’s made from. Pola is in metal while Fuji is in plastic.
Dermot, I live in Malahide, but I can make it down to Brey anytime by train. I like it over there, I guess I could make it down when the weather gets better and take few shots around straight away.
By the way I really wonder I never even heard of that exciting Fuji instant negative possibilities, fantastic discovery I have to say, thanks for the link!!
Impossible Project seem to be endlessly enthusiastic about what they do, I hope they eventualy come up with something useful and excting as this is. I’m big fun nevertheless..On the side, 100C I use often with Mamiya for proofs. For many years I’m getting it exclusively from 7dayshop.com. They keep best prices for every film they sell though + cheap and fast delivery. I guess they sell larger c45 as well.
hughParticipantThanks for the 7dayshop suggestion Vlad .. they don’t seem to do the 100C45 though …
Dermot1ParticipantVlad you’re welcome down anytime, I don’t drive so unfortunately can’t come to you, Hugh I looked at my eBay thingy and can’t see where I bought the film so I’ll have to harass my family to see if I ordered through one of their accounts.
Dermot1ParticipantHugh I just wanted to give you an update I can’t find the ebay seller I’ve bought from before, sorry.
