Hi all. Just wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to whether there is a “low battery indication” warning on a Hahnel Giga pro II remote transmitter? I’ve searched various sites , including Hahnel’s, but none seem to mention how you know when the battery is exhausted in the transmitter. I’d hate to be out shooting & have the battery fail as a small screwdriver is required to remove the rear cover & it’s too easy to lose the screws. Not an easy task if shooting at night. I’ve no idea of the expected battery life & wouldn’t want to be changing the battery unnecessarily either. :?:
Hi Miki you are correct there is no low battery warning indicator. All i can say is that i’m on my 3rd battery in the trigger unit and still the original in the transmitter!
I have one too, I have a little plastic container with replacement batteries
And a little screwdriver, the type you get for eyeglasses, in it just in case!
It is always in my camera bag.
Thanks Ossie13 & Shutterbug.
I put the transmitter into bulb mode & fired off a couple of hours of exposures to drain the battery (as an experiment) just to see if it would “suddenly” give up the ghost. The result was that, with a lead connected from the transmitter to the camera, it just kept on going, even when the LCD display was almost impossible to read & the unit wouldn’t transmit anymore. It could still be used like a normal cable release. This is handy to know as it gives plenty of time before the battery dies.
That is good to know, I have only had to change the battery once, and I think
I had left it switched on, the trigger buttons turn off themselves when not used
Which can be a pain sometimes as you have to keep turning them on, the
Yoke that goes on top of the camera stays on all the time.
