Anyone using fujifilm Compact Flash cards
-
paddyxParticipant
Hi
I normally use Sandisk compact flash cards but i see in my local camera shop that the Fujifilm 40x 1 GB compact flash cards are half the price of the Sandisk i would like to know is there much of a difference between the two is many people using the fuji
Thank YouPaddy
MarkKeymasterI have mostly Sandisk cards, but do have a 1GB Fuj card as well.
Can’t say I’ve compared them directly, but I’ve not noticed any obvious difference to be honest.richiehatchMemberI have a 2GB 100x Fuji CF card…. seems perfect to me…. its seems equally as fast as other 2GB Sandisk and Lexar cards that I have…!

I think that’s in line with most peoples experiences. Where I’ve really noticed a difference in card speeds is not while shooting but later when downloading the data using a high-speed card reader. I don’t have any hard and fast figures because I just plug the card in to the reader and let the download manager do the rest while I go off and do something else; I’m never that much in a hurry that card downloading speed is an issue for me. For some people this is important however, and Rob Galbraith has an interesting (if somewhat out of date) CF/SD Performance Database.
seanmcfotoMemberI have a mix of Sandisk and fuji. 4 of each in various sizes. The Fuji’s are all 1Gb. Sandisk are 1 and 2 gb. Writing RAW to the fuji cards is slower than the sandisk on my 20D. It’s only been an issue once or twice, but I still opt for the Sandisk cards first when I’m out.
paddyxParticipantSANCHOMemberI’ve a 512mb, and two 2GB Fuji cards and they’re great! I bought a sandisk II 2 gb card for a trip to Paris and it was a nightmare!! It kept deleting images after i took another one so i had to take 2 shots of everything! As soon as i put a fuji card back in everything was fine. so yeah Fuji wins :D

You’re joking, right?
I’ve never really heard of any card do anything like that, least of all Sandisk although there was a highly publicised issue with Lexar Cards in certain Canon cameras back in 2005 which was firmware related – perhaps you were experiencing something similar with your Sandisk card? Not sure about the Fujifilm cards, but both Lexar and Sandisk (Extreme III and Extreme IV) cards are covered by a lifetime warranty. If there’s a problem, send it back to them and they’ll replace it.
SANCHOMemberhaven’t used the card again since and my camera is in camera hospital till July :( however i’ll certainly be checking to see if the problem persists when i get it back. it’s a 2GB card so i don’t want to be losing that much storage space.
