Not landscape photography but what some will do for a landscape shot
Met up with Andy and Ian today as they went inside the cave at dunkerry
had a super time and i think i was more nervous watching them
who said the irish where mad here is 2 mad scots men
GOD BLESS HER AND ALL WHO SAIL IN HER
Just for scale
We did it
derrycityParticipantlooks like a great adventure— they must be totally crazy— but great shots well captured
andy mcinroyParticipantCathal,
Thank you so much for coming along today and capturing these amazing pics. I really appreciate it.
You did a great job capturing these from a difficult (and not entirely safe) position.
So we finally did it. 9 months of planning and we got ourselves into the bigest cave on the north coast and Cathals images have recorded it perfectly. It was an amazing experience and I have never been so terrified in my life. There was a fair swell down there that the camera doesn’t show.
The cave itself was just incredible and we dared not go any further in than about 50m. Perhaps it’s better that the far reaches of Dunkerry remain forever a mystery, as I doubt I would ever have the guts to go back. If it goes in for 2 miles like the legends say, I doubt any man will ever get there.
My photograph of the inside will be posted later tonight
Thank you again Cathal.
lousyParticipantPitmaticMemberTotaly amazing andy did you think of having L plates on the dingy… :) nice shots cathal i suspect there was a bit of a drop and if i was there i would probably have needed my best brown trousers :)
andy mcinroyParticipantThe quote of the day came from Iain after the excitement,
“We did this by the textbook (pause thinking) …….. if the textbook existed.”
Mick451ParticipantGreat set of shots, Cathal, captures the event perfectly.
Nutters, all of you…admirable nutters…but still nutters.
;)andy mcinroyParticipantThe full story of the adventure is up at the Colmcille climbers website. Iain tells a good story.

Jimderrynid daveParticipantDeeboParticipantWell done lads. Looks a great experience and fair play to you all for braving it. Looking forward to your shots Andy
andy mcinroyParticipantAs I suspected, the Irish News are going to run with our story.
Some of Cathals images along with my own photograph will be featured in the Irish News tomorrow (Tuesday).
Grab a copy tomorrow if you can.
Andy
Brian_CParticipantCathal, this is a lovely set, are these HDR by any chance, they really have a lurvly tonal range to them but just watch the horizon in the first one, and the blown high-lights. there’s a couple of dust bunnies there too.
Jaysis in fairness thou, Andy fair play to ya. Glad to hear all went well.
