Aphrodite’s Beach

Ok, last Cyprus post, I promise! I was actually quite thrilled that I got so many shots that I liked out of this trip, and I had to climb up a giant rock to get this one! Of course, you all may disagree with my assessment of quality :) Likewise, I wasn’t sure if this was better in landscape or travel… it’s sorta both, really.
Any way, this is Aphrodite’s Beach. It’s strange, I had heard *so* many good things about how amazing the beaches were in Cyprus, then we got there and they were all these crazy rocky beaches… to me, that just doesn’t seem like it would be all that comfortable. Maybe they sweep the rocks away in the summer? It was definitely gorgeous, at any rate:
Oh, and while we’re at it, here’s Lady’s Mile Beach, the “beautiful” beach in Limassol. Check out that gorgeous view of the industrial port!
As always, C&C welcome.
nolongerParticipantandy mcinroyParticipantSorry Antifuse,
They don’t really do it for me. There’s too much blue sky in them both which could ideally do with being cropped out.
The composition in the first is quite weak and the little bit of foreground at the bottom left is distracting. Although, I’m not sure that I could have done much better from this position. It might have been worth hunting out a more interesting bit of coastline to be honest.
I do prefer the second and I think you’ve got a pleasing composition here. It is unfortunate that the detail in the boats is slightly hidden in the detail of the city behind. The mountains behind are a very pleasing background. The foreground is nice enought but really it would have been worth looking for a stronger lead in. The curve of the waters edge itself might have worked better.
Hope this helps and gives you another bump.

nolongerParticipantCheers Andy – please, by all means feel free to give me as many negative comments as you want! I’m not just looking for positive feedback, the constructive criticism helps me figure out where to improve my photos in the future! :)
mortParticipantHey, I really like the colours, textures and wide angle in the first one but there is something about the composition that lets it down. The rocks in the foreground and the ratio of sky to land are the culprits as amcinroy pointed out.
SANCHOMemberthose beaches don’t look too welcoming. wouldn’t want to walk barefoot on the second one that’s for sure. OUCH!
snaphappyMemberlove the second the sky is good and although its a busy scene it doesnt look too cluttered….. oh roll on the summer holidays
