Jasus they’re massive on my pc, I think you should resize them. Couldn’t comment other than that
Pat
snaphappyMemberHey josephine welcome.. I will try and be more constructive than Pat I do agree that they need to be resized if you open them in photoshop or what ever editing suite you are using you will find the resize option. in photoshop its in the top toolbar under image/resize/imagesize when open resize the pixal count a good size for handy viewing and quick downloading is 800 pixals wide. As for the pictures the first is compositionaly good but the colours are kind of flat (I know the irish sky doesnt help) but if you fiddled about with your levels saturation contrast it could be probably be improved. for me the second one is not as strong a picture as the first but again might benifit from a photoshop makeover perhaps even a black and white conversion.it could do with being a good bit sharper too.
I took the liberty of resizing these for you hope I didn overstep the mark at least the rest of the lads can critique them now. And i hope you dont find my comments too critical…
JosephineParticipantThanks snaphappy for all that info. I didnt realize they were so big. You are not overstepping mark at all. I need all the help i can get and dont mind admitting it. I will try resizing them next time. A critical reply is better than no reply as I always say. Thanks again
josephineBrian_CParticipantHiya and welcome. I’d agree with snaphappy the first one is a little flat with the sky being colourless, try using some ND Grad filters to give the sky a little tone/colour. I think it could be a real cracker if it had been early in the morning with a little fog floating about. defo worth a re-visit. Maybe add a Graduated filter to the sky in photoshop.
the second one needs a little of the foreground cropped off, the forground is lacking any real interest, for me. I think it would make it a much stronger image. If you have photoshop, or something like it, I’d up the colour saturation to give the sky a little more colour and I think it will be a very interesting shot.
Well done and looking forward to seeing more shots.
lousyParticipantHi Josephine, pat here again. I must apologise for being a bit ‘full on’ in my first post, so I will make a comment on your pics.
I like the idea of the first shot and the boat and reflections look very well, as the guys said the sky is the problem. But you’re not alone there as all my shots this morning were burned out.
The second is another good idea as a lighthouse is a great subject, but I find it missing something. Maybe a different angle or even go back in the hope there might be a boat in the water the next time.
Good work anyway and well done.
Pat
