Taken at Enniscorthy Greyhound Track this evening…
1/15th sec + handheld + ISO1600 + no flash = a miracle
cathaldParticipantThe processing works well here John kinda sets the mood i think
Is yer man asking you to pick a winner,i’ve been to the dogs many times and the craic is good i must bring the camera next time
Cathal
nfl-fanParticipantAlright Cathal…
When they seen the camera pointing at them there was a bit of a gag going on that I was taking photos for Social Welfare!
I know the 3 chaps in the background well… one wired my new ranch, another plastered it… the bloke pointing the programme at me I know too… would have went to school with his kids.
Light conditions were atrocious… really bad… hard to get a decent shot. Noise and hot spots all over the nights work… but good fun and worth bringing the camera along to.
Will be back next summer… when it’s still bright at 8pm.
Cheers
JGfoxParticipantGreat shot.. .The grain is not a problem here as its that type of shot if you get what I mean… I really like this shot..
Been meaning to get along to the dogs for so many nights now…
ExpresbroParticipantReally like this one John. A great character shot…and the bit of movement adds to the shot I think. Noise and grain are a plus in this case I think.
Compositionally I think it’s a bit loose though. I’d be tempted to lose the top quarter (I know the sign is attractive photographically, but I think it distracts from the real subject) and crop in a little tighter from the right (their left). Just focus attention on those great faces and body positions.
Anyway..a great street/people shot.

NollaigParticipantI love people shots, and really like this one.
I love the way you caught the guy in the front making eye contact with the guy in the back row.
All the front men look like ‘characters’ and the back row lads are younger but look like apprentice
‘characters’.
What is particularly nice is the way the other guys in the front are connecting with you in a relaxed
way, no posing or stiffness. I expect there was a bit of banter going on.MarkKeymasterVery nice image here. What a bunch of characters and so relaxed with it.
Nollaig is right, the lads at the back are the next generation waiting to move down to the front seats :)Good processing also.
Punk RockMemberdavedunneParticipantmgstParticipantLove the interaction with the subject and the conversion works very well.

ryan52MemberjessthespringerParticipantI love all the silvery tones in this picture, I think it’s really good… So much to look at. Nice one!!

RobMemberExtraordinary sharpness for handheld at 1/15th of a second. A well captured and
framed moment, and the movement of that guy pointing the race programme really
sets it off well. Pretty good noise levels too for such a high ISO, barely discernible at
this resolution, and not too much blocking in the shadows either. Like Sinead, I really
like the tones you’ve achieved with your conversion…Rob.
aoluainParticipantNice one John,
Love the atmosphere and processing.
Id say those lads were great craic!Nicely captured,
Love it.
