Ok so went at this one again with a less laissez faire approach to processing. I think its better now. The light from the rainbow was very unusual with streaks of shadow slicing through it …..Needless to say …5 minutes later my camera and I were drenched :-)
I quite like this image, though the spot of light in the distance is a little bit eye catching,
Just a bit too bright. I love the clarity in the foreground the White of the surf is nice.
Thanks Jenny, yes that light hitting the hill was very unusual……I might try a third processing attempt on this one as I also note a redness n the sky from the saturation boost I gave the rainbow. It was infact related to a second forming rainbow but looks wrong
It appears that the long exposure has caused streaking across the rainbow – that makes it look very unnatural. Now, I’m not against imaginative techniques and even unnatural effects, however in this case, the “streaks” across the rainbow are distracting. Hope this helps.
Ok so I went at this again and this is the final version . BM re the long exposure casting shadows through the rainbow and looking unnatural, That was as it was on the day, very unusual light, indeed!. This image is made up of two exposures, the long one for the sea only and the short for the sky, so sky, inc rainbow / shadows/ intense light hitting the land, were pretty much as it was. This is pretty much gods canvas on the western flanks and he paints as he see fit :-)
