JoziParticipant
I’m not sure have I the write section, think not but here goes.
I’m a moderator from a forum for E30 BMW 3 Series. In May last year we had a big gathering/meet for E30’s, it was our first attempt at getting a lot of E30 together for a big meet all at the same time. The day was a great success and we exceeded all our and probably everyone elses expectation with over 75 E30 there on the day.
We are just now in the planning stages for another event mid June with the same aim, to get a lot of E30 together and possibly cater for other BMW’s and other marques as well.
Last year was a good show but this year we want to do an even better event and one of the idea’s thats been mentioned was to have a photographer there on the day to do portrait photo’s of E30 owners cars.
I’d love to be in a position to do this myself but I don’t have the experience or equipment or a clue of how this might work. Are there photographers here or even in Ireland who would have experience with this kind of thing, where would I look for someone, whats involved etc etc
I hope some of you can help us out or get us going in the right direction.
Thanks,
BrendanJonnyp16vParticipantMight head to this, love e30’s, one of the non VAG cars I really want to own. I always bring my camera to the VW shows I attend, it can be very hard to get good shots with the way cars are parked at shows or gatherings. You would need to have an area cleared specifically for the photoshoot. Where is the event held?
JoziParticipant19th of June in Athlone is all we know for definite, were chasing up Athlone IT for a car park there but waiting to hear back from them.
Your more than welcome to come and have a look, anyone and anyone is welcome. We’re aiming it at E30’s but hope to have a few VAG’s there as well, one of the guys organising is a VAG fan and he’s doing a great job coming up with idea’s for this.
Would you have any advice on how to give photographers the best possible shot layout wise or positioning wise while at shows? I “think” the portrait thing might be out of the window :( unless a workable idea can be thought of.
One of the guys mentioned maybe just having a area with a white backdrop with the meet logo on it and for car to just drive up at their own leisure and take a pic, nothing with a photographer.
Again, your more than welcome to come for a browse and hopefully endup buying a E30 out of it :D
Jonnyp16vParticipantI like the Idea of having the backdrop with the logo on it. There is never enough space to park the cars right to get good photos at meets or shows, they would need to be parked like a V to even get half decent shots. Don’t tempt me with buying E30’s, it might happen and I can’t afford another car
JoziParticipantHehe, sell the others and just have a nice E30, their great for a good drive or a runabout daily.
Parked like a V, so the nose of 2 cars point towards each other and effectively the tails o f the cars next to them as well. We have quite a big open space free from kerbs and what not to park the cars on in some sort of nice way.
I may go after the white back drop with logo idea as an alternative
