Autumn Trees

GenieParticipant
Picture taken in my Nieces school, the bench is in memory of a deceased teacher. I thought the colours were beautiful and tried to capture them. C&C, as always, welcome.
Thanks,
Janine
BallymanParticipantGenieParticipantThanks Ballyman, I am quite happy with it too but its good to hear other opinions on it. Sometimes I take a picture that I think is fabulous and my family look at me as if i have 20 heads :D

Very nice. Cant see anything wrong with this at all!
Total agreement great colours I am sure it would take pride of place at the school or by the teachers family.
Well captured.Soda
Alan RossiterParticipantColours are great Janine, and the vision that you had for the image. But as this is a place where people provide opinions not only what they like, but what they’d do different, so I’ll give my twopence worth.
The softness isn’t something that would appeal to me – but I think anyone involved in the reason for the seat to be there in the first place would appreciate the effect more. I’d also like to see more of the seat – it seems hidden. But the counter-argument to that is your angle of view and how effective it is. How about moving to the left, get a wider angle on your lens and it should keep both elements happy? The only concern then would be that it would allow space between the trees and possibly cause a distraction if the background is visible.
But, I could be waaaaay wrong!

MadeleineCalaidoWeberParticipantadorable trees in all their glory. the soft impression…indeed an artistic addition. It suits the image. The image without softglow is very strong too….the rich colours and the abundance of structures. Beauty from the base! A great photograph and a proud mama too (:
Madra RuaParticipantGorgeous image, and knowing about the bench adds another dimension to it.
My only niggle would be that the tree on right is too dominant.
It takes up almost a third of the frame, without adding too much to the picture with most of that third.
I hope that makes sense.MDCPhotographyParticipantReally great colours on this, and great the way you are drawn to the bench. Nice shot
Mr.HParticipantVery Nice Janine…. I’d echo hauke’s thought so on the tree on the right though….. apart from that its lovely… Would make a really nice pano also.

terryMemberHi Janine
This is a beautiful picture. It would make a beautiful print and I am sure the School would love a copy of it to put in their entrance to remind people of the bench in memory of the teacher.Terry
mcmartinParticipantJanie i think it is great shot, have to agree with Hauke, about the dominant tree to the right… otherwise nice composition and great colours…
GenieParticipantThank you all for your comments, they are very much appreciated.
Alan, this is the best shot that I could get off the tree. I went the other side of the bench and all I could get was the bench and the trunks of the tree because there was a prefab in the background. Beside the tree there was also a square boulder of concrete which is much more visible from the other side. I know what your saying about trying to get the bench more prominent, but in this case it wasn’t possible. Thanks for the help though, appreciated.
Hauke, Gary and Martin I can see exactly what you mean about the tree. Its really in your face and as Huake said it doesn’t add anything. Great learning to be had here. :D I will take all these comments on board and put them into practise.
Thanks again everyone.
Janine
PS I am going to get a print and give it to the school.
