Think next time I’m going to try an shooting through an umbrella instead of softboxes…
PitmaticMemberBrollies would give round catchlights (read that in digital camera magazine somewhere :) lovely portraits and talk about eyes you could drown in wonderfull.
PD_BARBSParticipantWhy ?
And thats just out of curiosity rather than I know different.
Great shots, the lighting looks pretty good to me, but as I say I know nothing.

Just to try something new…that’s all.
What lights do you use, alot of what you post is really good, so I would be interested in knowing the kit and number of lights, I feel that I would like to try some portraits, but don’t even know were to start.
Poulet et Lait…MemberWell this shot here is just one light and a little reflector from below. It’s shot at ISO100, f-10 1/125th with a 28-70mm at the 70mm end on a 5D with a Bowens 500watt head with a small softbox and just with post pro on it too.
jessthespringerParticipantI’ve looked at this a few times today, I’m not quite sure what to make of it.
The processing, I think is flawless, and the tones are simply beautiful.
As are both poses, the pose on the left being extremely engaging.
So much so, it kind of demands more attention than the pose on the right. It’s difficult for the eye to settle, except maybe, for the black in the middle.
Maybe I’m missing something about the composition?

As an aside.. You can “Shape” the catchlights by sticking black paper or tape to the softbox… Squares are for squares :)
We did one with a crescent moon for Halloween once, you can get the crescent to fit around the iris.. :)
Details eh!
Si
Poulet et Lait…MemberThought I’d post this up also. I shot some on 120 film…this is one of the polaroids from it…
