hey I posted a thread last week called “where can I get 50 mil 1.8 for my canon” and I got some great suggestions after weighing it up I decided I could afford the tamron 28-75 f2.8 as well as the canon ef50 mil 1.8 so my search began, buying in Ireland was ruled out straight away as everything was way to dear. The next suggestion was warehouseexpress.co.uk this site had what I wanted but was on the pricey side too less than Ireland but nowhere near the value in digital rev I was getting the two lenses + import duty paid +ups delivery for 440 euro so i said this is the way to go I placed my order entered my credit card details and awaited my email to inform me my order had been shipped when I got an email stating that the company had suspended shipments to the republic of ireland something to do with duty. so my next stop was amazon .com good value again but when i got to filling out the order form I was informed “that we cannot ship to this geographical location” and that they could process the order if I change the shipping address so obviously I need the gear in ireland so that sinks that.I am not mad about using ebay as I am unfamiliar with it and therefore it doesnt have my confidence. So where I am at the moment is I am wandering if any of you guys/girls could recommend a site that you have used and trust and most of all offers good value. that will ship to the little island of Ireland thanks in advance …. :( :( :(
Madra RuaParticipantI got my 400D and some lenses from HERE.
They’re in Germany and offer good value. They ship to Ireland for ?20.
Only drawback is that they don’t accept credit card and you need to do a money transfer.
That doesn’t cost anything within the EU, bbuut takes a little longer. They sell the Tamron 28-75/2.8 SP XR Di Canon for ? 297
and the Canon 50mm 1.8 II for ?99.stasberMemberIn case anyone’s not seen, here’s a link to your thread of the same title in the General Photography Q+A forum, with some suggestions from others ;)
Good luck
pete4130MemberI think Amazon aren’t shipping goods such as electronics (not sure about lenses though) etc… to Ireland anymore as tehy are categorised as a supplier and were being forced to pay the WEEE recycling fee here in Ireland. It’s meant to be getting sorted out in the coming month, but this is no good to you.
If you have any friends in Northern Ireland see if you can get it shipped there. Thats what I usually get done when I need items to be shipped to a UK address.snaphappyMember
