dont know much about Hdr, other than hdr normally have very punchy saturated colours, you could probably push these two images a bit further if thats the look you are after.

    on the images

i can see how you aimed to composed the curving lines of the stream/river bed? the only thing is the actual location and the brown sludge doesnt appeal to me personally – also might do with a bit of sharpening

the second image appeals to me more its a nice scene – the only thing you are missing is a focal point, not sure if you deliberately left the little rock at bottom but for me it isnt enough for interest, its a bit more of a distraction, and might have been better to remove it before pressing the shutter.

what settings did you use aperture iso etc? did you use a tripod?

    Just my opinion

    thanks for the reply m8.

The “river bend” sludge area is just an area behind the strand that is kinda boggy a bit. I soppose the colour is to taste. I didnt want to push for HDR with the oversaturated unrealistic look.

This was really just first time merging 3 brackted images together for shadows/mids/highlights with suttle post processing which included just adjusting of levels and adding contrast. (I used a HDR programme to merge the 3image together as i only have PS7 which i cant find a tutorial for to do it manually bah!)

The rock was left there intentionally, i was going to dodge it a bit in PS to bring it out a little more but left it as is. The focal point was soppose to be the boring sunrise led by the wild flowers lol :p

these were brackted at -2 : 0 : +2 with the automatic incamera bracketing thingy on the 40D.

    at ISO100
    and at f.22

    with a tripod of course.

Thank you for the comments and feedback – they are very much appreciated.

Hi Kevin. I think they are great shots. In the first the stream leads your eye into the scene. the colour of the clouds in number two really sets off the scene. I know the area well and it wouldn’t normally be a place I would have associated with getting good shots. Well done

thanks miki, appreciated. Its a great spot i think overlooked, as im sure are many places – there are alot of great patterns and features hidden that even i passed and didnt stop to take the shot as i was so tired to get home. if i had more energy i would of spent alot more time heading around, but as my first landscapes i thought i got the best i could of pulled outta there.. :)
    thanks again.

Really like the first image here. The tones ate nice and the way the sun glistens on the mud.
