Back yard session.

A friend of mine came round for a go at the new jump in my dad’s business’ back yard. We spent too much time out on the trails in tollymore so by the time we came back the sun was going down (going down as in iso800, f/1.8, 1/13th going down!!) so it was getting desperate towards the end!
I’ve never tried sport shooting of any sort before never mind panning so its not great…

    scouting out the jump…

trying a whip (he said it was deadly to get a decent one on that jump but I can do it so he must be doing something wrong :) )

    C&C most appreciated!!!

..as usual, bigger pictures on my flickr:

Really like that second picture… What’s a whip? I’m dead impressed with you guys jumping over all that stuff… I’m a complete wuss with stuff like that

Not so sure about the first, it doesn’t really show the scale of the jump, I think it’s really hard to get that side of MTB across in a picture, hard to find the angle, if you know what I mean?

Anyway pretty good for a first attempt!

Thanks jess. This is a whip -were you get the tail out, keeping your front wheel pretty straight. My picture doesn’t show it at all. That was the first time he was on that jump so he wasn’t fully used to it.. so you ride xc then? I’d be of the DH variety :-)
That jump isn’t really that big btw.. the gaps only about 8ft. I’ve jumped 11 but the DH fellas on big bikes can get up to 25+ ft

Yea I wasn’t to pleased with the perspective on that one, I just liked it because david (monty) didn’t know I took it so he was very natural.

    Thanks anyway! :)

I do like that first shot, I like his position in the frame and as you say, pretty natural… I think abit more contrast would be good.

Do I ride xc? Well I try, though I struggle a bit on the hills going up and lose mu bangers on anything technical coming down  Sometimes it must just look like I’m taking my bike for a walk!!
I just got a new bike, 4″ travel front and back… Takes a little getting used to, my last bike was fully rigid!

at least you don’t ride on the black stuff ;)
4inch sounds good for xc. Skills will come with practise..

    Like the US rangers say:
‘slow is smooth and smooth is fast’

And thats exactly how it usually goes (most of the time) :)
