Bad Day !!

Had a bummer of a day today…got a new Fuji 1Gb Xd card on Thursday. Used it on Friday night at the Office Christmas Party and on Saturday morning at the kids Christmas Bowling League party. Couldn’t get my admittedly long in the tooth card reader to recognise it that evening ..the biggest XD card I’ve ever used in it before was a 128Mb one. Brought it into my neighbour who has a built in card reader on his PC and everything looked fine. Took camera into work today to upload the pics and all of the kids pictures and a good few of the office party pics (still 70 or so left thankfully) had just evaporated from the card. well over a 100 pics just gone.. .Don’t know what I did..whether I deleted them or something in camera…is not likely…but possible I suppose…or whether my card reader did something to the card..or if the card is faulty even..anyway..totally ruined my day..and now I have to tell all the bowling kids that I lost their pics… so a really bad day.

Only good thing of the day was that my Understanding Exposure book arrived in the mail today..plus I get to browse here and check out all the new pics from the weekend…and moan to whoever reads this too…

    Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

    Thanks for listening/reading.

    All vented now!!

    Maybe not all gone-
even deleted files still exist on the media, and it might be possible to rescue them-

just don’t format the card until your sure there’s no chance of retreiving them-
Do a search for data retrieval,
    see what you find-

They are still there and easily recvered provided you have not taken more on top of them.

Unless you’ve formatted your card or used it since, they’re most likely still all there…

download this and try it if you’ve no success… works great:

Oh Oh..I had taken more since.

But I’ll try these apps and see what happens…

    :D Success!!!

That program worked a treat Jay. A lot of the recovered pics were dodgy quality..not sure if that is part of the recovery process or just my inexperience with settings. But the main thing is I have them all back. Brilliant little program that…and free as well..wow!!

    Thanks a lot folks

    The day was saved :D

    Great news! :)

The dodgy quality could be down to some of the sectors on the card being overwritten with new data (photos)… which could have previously contained part of your deleted images…

Glad the program worked for ya…

Thanks for the link Jay. It really is a simple effective little program..the best kind…and it will be lodging in my Essential Utilities Toolbox from now on.

A mate of mine bought a 1GB XD before getting married and going on an amazing honeymoon in Asia. It appeared that she’d lost photos but they were retrievable, luckily.
