It’s been a while since I posted any images, in fact really have had small amount time to get out with camera.

Here is one of my images from a 4.30am trip out to Howth just at end of last year. Had done a bit of research before checking sunrise times and expected location so I could be in the right place. Luck would have it the cloud cleared slightly as sun rose to give this glowing sky.

Let me know what you think.

It has been a while! Good to see you back, I love the splash of colour of the sunrise,
against the almost monochrome of the rest of the scene, very nice shot.

    Jason,

The colours here are great and the contrast and light in the foreground are nice too.

But I have to ask, having regularly persecuted myself on dawn runs to various locations. Are you sure it was “at the end of last year” because at 04:30 in the morning, at that time of year I would expect it to be pitch dark. Seasons are always interesting in the different sunrises they offer up. Its still a very nice shot.

    Hi

I took also a photo of Bailey Lighthouse but at the evening. This is HDR. Have a look. Sorry for this watermark but I just send a link from the external gallery.

i like this alot . lovely composition and a great sky ..but as with another photo i have just commented on i think the the foreground/bottom 3/4 of the photo looks a bit unnatural . you’ve captured a lovely sky and then decided to get rid of what would have been lovely tones showing up in the water and lighthouse…i understand about reducing them and wanting to keep the foreground brighter to show up detail. but what your left with is a beautiful orange sky and then a completely white sea which just (to my eyes) looks too unnatural. none the less like i said at the start a lovely shot!

Thanks all for the great comments.

ps. Jenny thanks its great to be back posting and getting out and about with the camera.

Niall the 4.30am was when i dragged myself out of bed and left the house to be in place for this image. the image was at 7.36am I believe.

jodal1975 – i know were you are coming from, though the sea itself didn’t have any great tones from what i recall as above this section of sky the higher sky was much brighter and less colourful or dramatic. I did have to brighten the foreground a touch to bring back detail in the cliff edge and consequently the water.

    Ah now Jason,

    Thats just boasting!!

My posts of Schull Harbour WERE 04:50. Do you think I should change them to the time I got up at 03:15 ;-)

    Best regards,

    Niall

Haha :) – I have to say though I’ve very rarely caught a sunrise in summer – now that would be too early.
