This picture was entered in the RTE weather competition that Ali’s great picture won. I reversed it so that the balloon was on the right. It got nowhere :( I was going to post it on the Ali winning thread but am interested in what anyone might have to say so here it is:
Not sure if it qualifies as a landscape either?
I think this is superb. Great framing and composition, super colours. Considering some of the shots on the RTE competition, discounting our illustrious winners shot, this is way better than most of them.

Maybe they were looking for more traditional landscapes.
LVery nice shot Valentia, balloon is perfectly positioned. It looks very saturated however and it looks like the colours are pushed a bit too much. Did you do much processing afterwards?
Thanks folks, I was disappointed not to even make the shortlist. I have to say that Ali’s shot definitely deserved to win but I was wondering of it was just me.
Ali, I ran a velvia action (imitates Fuju Velvia transparency look) over it. I know the saturation is not to everyones taste but I like that effect. Not all the time but in this case with the huge contrast between the blue and the yellow I wanted to accentuate it.
It’s a very nice shot where ever it fits, I like the saturation in this one.
