I love the second one it has a great atmosphere to it and a super colour pallete. The composition in the first is great but it seems a tad soft for my eye.

    Hi Brian,

It’s always a challenge when shooting towards the sun.

I love the colours that can be found at either end of the day and rarely convert
a sunset or sunrise image to mono.
That said this is a nice image and, as john says, well composed.
    I do like the starburst.

#2 is really my cup of tea.
    Lovely colours.
Would probably look even better bigger.

    Well done.

    John.

Yes 2 lovely shots. I particularly liked the b&w as I thought it worked fine. But when I see the colour version it is better and a little sharper too.

    Hi Brian,

I really like that colour version.
I’m a bit of a fan of early/late colour and this is very nice.
Love the shaft of light on the LHS and the slivers of sunlight on the rocks.

    Good stuff.

    John.

I like the depth created in the second shot by using the foreground rock. It is hard to judge quite how large Rathlin is in most photos, so the rock helps add a sense of scale too.

I prefer the colour version of the first shot. The starburst effect looks cool, and again there is a good sense of depth. I can’t decide if I like Rathlin peeking in from the right, and it would be interesting to compare a version without it. It may well anchor the background of the shot, but that’s hard to decide without seeing a modified version.
