Ballycotton with a B+W 110 ND Filter
-
carrigmanParticipant
The B+W ND 110 filter reduces exposures by a massive 10 f stops. It transmits only 0.1% of light. It thus allows long exposures on a bright day, as in this test shot (a 4 second exposure). (Its principal field of application is the observation and documentation of industrial processes with extreme brightness, such as steel furnaces, incinerators, glowing filaments in halogen- and other bulbs). I only got it today so it will take a while to get used to it. So far, so good.
cathaldParticipantJohn nice crisp and sharp image but i think the white water is to bright in the foreground perhaps you could tone it down a bit in PS but this is only my 2cents worth
petercoxMemberJohn –
I like this. Good composition and the clouds are nice and strong. The long exposure works very well in daylight. I would disagree with Cathal – I think the foreground brightness is appropriate and not over the top – but that’s probably subjective.Cheers,
PeterMartinParticipantVery nice John, lovely colours recorded in the shot and very nice mood. The long exposure works very well here. Foreground brightness is fine for me. Only suggestion and i might be wrong is if the shot was panned up a little to show a bit more sky. Would pan to the top of the rock at the bottom middle
Very nice well done
Mnfl-fanParticipantHi John,
Very pleasant image you have there. Have revisited this numerous times.
Can I ask where you purchased this filter? I’d love to give long exposures during a bright day a try out. Beats getting up at the crack of dawn.
J
BrickeeParticipantcarrigmanParticipantThanks folks.
The filter can be obtained here: http://www.fotosense.co.uk
The cost, including postage, is €77
PitmaticMemberVery nice the water looks fine to me might have to save up for that filter :)
nfl-fanParticipantJohn.
Had a look on the Fotosense website. When you register it doesn’t allow you to specify a country so I’m assuming shipping outside the UK is not possible. Can you confirm how you managed to get yours shipped?
Cheers
carrigmanParticipantI had no problem ordering the item from the Fotosense website. They will happily ship to Ireland.
nfl-fanParticipantCheers. E-mailed them asking for clarification as to how to specify country.
latchikoParticipantGreat shot! Very interesting to see a long exposure during such bright daylight. Looking forward to seeing more of these.
technics100MemberGood shot, the long exposures are hard to get when its that bright, will have to have a look at one of those filters myself.
DeeboParticipantAgree with the rest, very good shot
Good to see the long exposures on a bright sunny day, allows for a lay in and not having to footer about with others means to getting the slow shutter
I like the compositon too
