Hi,
I took this photo in my first morning in Ireland
Since then I’ve traveling without stoping and after 1300km more o less I´m in Galway (kerry is amazing :o :o ). This weekend is suppose to be good weather and I’m planning to go to Connemara. Any advise for any interesting place to sleep? somewhere where I can take good photos at dawn and dusk. I sleep in my car so anyplace is good for me 8)
The photograph has been taken on 07-06-2009 with a canon 350D and the 17-85 IS USM. 3 photos stitched with autopano pro and velvia filter with photoshop.
5faytheParticipantHi Aitor,
Glad you made it here Ok and I hope you are having
a good time.I’m sure somebody from the west will come in with some
advice re Connemara. That’s a pretty good image to be getting on your first day.
Best of luck with the rest of your stay.
Cheers,
John.
aoluainParticipantHello Aitor,
Very nice Pano, again it is too samll to get a real feel for it but nice all the same.
Here are some details I supplied to another member recently who wanted a tour of
Connemara.“Ok I was thinking of a tour to do when I was driving home this evening.
Starting out from Galway city, You would want to head out towards Moycullen
and Oughterard heading for Clifden. You will pass through Recess and about 5 miles past that take a left turn for
Roundstone. This is a lovely fishing village, you could spend the day here easily.Ok head out to clifden taking the coast road, about 2 miles on that road you will
see a small sign to the left for Gurteen Bay, nice beach. This beach runs along
the south side of a tongue of land and on the Northern side is Dogs Bay again
another nice beach.Back on that road again towards Clifden you will pass through Ballyconeeley.
Clifden is a nice spot too to spend some time, there is a pier there too. Heading away
out of Clifden head for the Sky Road, along this road you will have a choice to take the
Bottom Road but the Sky Road summit offers
a fantastic view. Keep following that road untill you come out onto the Clifden, Lenane
Road and take a left towards Lenane. This road will take you into the Kylemore area and it will be worth going into
Kylemore Abbey.Finished in Kylemore Abbey and back on the road towards Lenane you will pass
the Service Station and again pass that about maybe 1/2 a mile there is a road to the right
back into Recess. This will bring you back in the direction of Galway through Recess, Maam Cross, Oughterard
and Moycullen. I think that trip would be enough for the day with some stop overs here and there. So to recap it is worth stopping and spending some time in Roundstone, either Gurteen or Dogs
Bay, Clifden, Sky road, Kylemore Abbey and a few scenic spots along the way for a snap or
two.If you find you have more time you could carry on to Lenane instead of taking that right for Recess.
Just outside Lenane about 4 miles on the westport direction is Ashleigh Falls. Anyway from Lenane
to get back to Galway head for Maam and in Maam take the right for Maam Cross. There are numerious routes to and through Connemara but I would recommend the above really
you will get a bit of everything that way. “I would have been on to meet you as any excuse to travel to connemara is a good one, but I cannot
this weekend anyway have a good trip and if you have any queries just post here or PM me, no problem.Have a good one,
Alan
