I like this shot. Lovely tones and good exposure throughout, well done. If I was to suggest improvement, I would suggest altering your angle slightly. shifting to the left a few steps. The problem is that although we all know we are looking at the front of a boat you dont really see it, . If you stepped to the left you would put some dept into the part of the image which is key to the overall shot, IMO.

    Hi
And thanks for all the comments, very much appreciated.

I disagree completely about stepping to the left, there is a natural line in the sand that I purposely used as a ‘lead in’, also I think there is plenty of ‘depth to the subject and its natural environment.

    But I appreciate all comments,

    Thanks anyway,

Yes I see the leading line(s) and that may be the compromise. That said, I still think you could incorporate the line and some element of the boats side, either that or catch the boat lit by a low lying sun such that the shadows would run your eye around the boats bulk. It just sits flat otherwise and it shouldnt being the focal point of the composition.

Lovely image Fiona. Just to bring 2 things to your attention before ya print. your horizon is off. it need rotating by 0.4 degrees to the right. also there is something funny going on in clouds at the top left of boat. it looks like the shape of the boat from cloning that interfered with clouds.over all a lovely image, well done.

    Hi Sirvad,

Thanks for that, i’m not sure how else to straighten the horizon in ‘lightroom’ other than using the grid lines ?

    Cheers

I’ve taken the wreck, great to photograph, really nice shot I like the moody sky against the warm sand!
