Between Skerries and Balbriggan there is a beach called Barnageera.
While it’s nice to walk along it, unfortunately it’s not very safe for swimming owing to currents. The beach is surrounded by cliffs and to prevent erosion there were some groynes placed in the sand at regular intervals to lessen the eroding effect of the waves. These groynes haven’t been repaired in years and are now starting to disintegrate. They still look interesting though.

i kinda think they should let the erosion happen myself, its a bit victorian the whole man controlling nature thing. it’ll wash there and build somewhere else. i suppose its a different matter if yer house is in a perilous spot though!
