I came across this page and thought I’d post it as it might be of interest to some on the site.
The comments are worth reading too.

Thanks for posting that, my girlfriend told me she had seen that on the news last night so I was sorry I had missed it. As you say, very interesting reading the comments below the article as well!

I wonder did the BBC and SKY pay to use those photos?

Maybe the wedding photographer uploaded them to photo stock, with this story going around the news he might have made enough by now to cover his legal expenses ;)

Once I stopped laughing at some of the images, the following crossed my mind:
If it happened in Ireland the courts would probably have awarded about 10x that amount to the couple.
In the article the couple say they selected the Photographer at a wedding Fayre above 11 other Photographers!!! Was it a Fayre for the Visually Impaired?
Note to other Photographers out there: Don’t show un-edited (Culled) work or anything you are not happy with.
Have Professional indemnity insurance before undertaking an assignment for payment.

This kind of cowboy work is really bad for the rest of us, and to be honest I partly blame the digital era. I had a man come into me one time a few years ago looking for a ‘good’ digital camera. I gave him the price of a Canon 1d (I think) and gave him the huge price that went with it…as it happens, I had previously sold him a Nikon f80 twin lens kit a few months previous and it was his first SLR (my timings may be off, but hold on). He told me that it didn’t matter about the cost of the Canon as he was going to ‘do’ weddings to cover the cost of the gear!!!

Everyone in the world now is a photographer, and that is not a bad thing as it is a way of expressing yourself, but, it should be left to people who have spent the time learning from a pro and actually know what they are doing. PHOTOSHOP can’t fix everything…

That does not excuse the pro’s either, I have seen many pro’s over edit and manipulate their pictures beyond recognition….Why not keep it simple, bring it back to the old days of correct exposure and composition. How many of new photographers could dev their own negs if they had to, never mind a good old print.

By the way…I love digital and am in no way knocking it…

What’s the fuss about, sure if I have an expensive camera then I must be able to take great photographs. It stands to reason!
An interesting article and I think the comments at the end give an interesting insight from the customer’s perspective, it shows that their expectations can be unrealistic too.
