Ummm it’s a bee…and a flower. Don’t ask me what types!

Nice pic Dave… Lovely saturated colours… Ye know I actually think thats a fly not a bee… its colours are all for show… Think I read that somewhere…!

I just love the depth and shades of colour in this shot. The detail is spot on from the wings of what I would call a Wasp and run a mile from (cos they sting) to the pollen grain on the left. Lovely shot reminds me of summer.

Much nicer than the average flower and fly shot.
It’s a hover fly.
EDIT And the flower looks like a wild rose.
Hmm – I should drop in here more often! Seems a shame to miss great shots as this! I think this is a great image – looks very three dimensional!
The easyiest way to determine that its a fly and not a bee is that it has only 2 wings whereas a bee has 4…! For reference have a look here… Quite interesting… well to me anyway..!
