Belfast Radisson (3 shots)

I was sitting in the bar last night thinking that I might be able to get some shots of the building with the water pool out front. Here’s my efforts.

Really nice, great colours, especially in the sky (I’m a sucker for a purple sky). Maybe the first one would be better with if it was a little tighter on the left? Cropped just past the crane? The second one is top for me, very simple.

Noted Cian. Thanks for that. I’ve reposted that shot.

I was hoping for some colout in the sky tonight and I was rushing back to the hotel after being to Calumet. Shot RAW and gave it a “Cloudy” white balance in PP to bring out some colour. Boosted saturation in RAW and in TIFF.

Second one for me too Aiden.

The little lake in front reminds me of the Council Buildings in the Blanchardstown Centre…a building ripe for some really nice long exposure evening shots.

Cool, I think the crop is a big improvement, for me number one is now the strongest.

Im gonna break the chain and say the third one is my facourite. I like the second too, but the third one is the one for me!

I’m with flipflip on this one. It’s got to be number three for me too.
The best perspective and the most inclusive of your shots.

Thanks folks, I’m kinda partial to #3 too. Funny enough, it’s a crop. The original was a portait layout and I only went landscape after I saw how it looked when I was sharpening. That made my desision easy. It also brough out the bar/restraunt area a bit more.

Aidan, great shots you have captured the hotel and water in front brilliantly. Why would you crop out a crane that looks so cool lit up, 2P’s worth. I know you are working but I hope you’re enjoying you time in Belfast.

Soda …. Mostly I’m in the hotel bar (lit up above) at night, surfing (this site a lot) and drinking. Waiting for some light in the mornings and evenings so I can get some shooting done at the reserve. There’s loads of birds (Black and white with red bills – Terns?) near the water outside the office in the evenings but it’s too dark when leaving at 16:00. But soon ….. :-)

Was up in Calumet before this shot. Smaller than I expected. I asked about the price of a 1D mk II N …. I then dropped the line “if it was 100 pounds cheaper you’d have a sale” but the fish didn’t bite. Probably just as well. I would have bought it then and there (with my new monopod and head) had they given me 100 off.

    Hi Aidan
Are you there just during the working week, or weekends as well? I will have to pop in and share a pint and a bit of craic with you some evening?

I’m there Monday to Thursday nights. Tomorrow will be a funny one … I’m leaving Kildare at around 05:00 so I can leave work in time for a phone meeting at 17:00. Be good to actually talk to someone in the evenings, though.
