Aidan, I would have much preffered this if there was an old man or lady sitting on the bench as it would add an air of mystery & intrigue about it.
Pat
Alan RossiterParticipantI’d be of the opposite opinion Pat, sorry. The interest I take from this is who was sitting on it, what was going through their mind, etc. It looks like the “bench of tears” that, erm, my wife tells me about in Eastenders. How many minds were cleared from this bench.
It’s the sort of photo that wouldn’t have worked as well in colour.

Young people can be intriguing and mysterious too like in some of the shots by Johnny in the people forum.
ryan52MemberFair comment William but when I look at the empty bench I am also looking at the water (uninteresting), the far shore (uninteresting), and the branches of the tree (not bad as a frame). So simply put it is a question of someone on the bench or not. I would like to open this up to the other forum members for a quick vote. Person on the bench or not. Yes or not. I know it is a bit harsh reducing a photo to a simple vote like this but sometimes that makes a nice change to the miriad of interpretations that can be got from a photo!!
Cheers

PoeticJusticeMemberI really like this and I don’t think it needs a person of any age because the bench has anthropomorphic qualities of its own with its arms, legs and blank-faced stare. Well done.
DenverDollParticipantI like this just the way it is.
Since the first time I viewed it just seemed to have a mystery attached. A sort of Stephen King creepy thing about it.
How’s that Aidan :wink:joe_elwayParticipantThanks for the comments folks. As for anyone sitting in it at the time … fat chance :-) The state park I was in was nearly empty … the payment booths at the entrance weren’t even being manned :-)
