Snapped these two at the Horse Fair in Smithfield recently. Don’t know why I assume they are friends…maybe they hate each other :D It’s not like they had a lot of choice, they were roped together, but they looked contented enough..despite the weather.
I really like this.
Although, what makes it for isn’t anything you could control, its the colour of their hair. They look nearly identical apart from the hair. That makes it really interesting in my opinion.
Well spotted too. However, id love to be able to see their eyes more clearly.
Look at those manes! Not exactly an ad for Pantene Pro V,
but a great shot all the same. Love the DOF in this, and the
position of your subjects in the frame. Well caught Robbie.
Mind if I ask, how much is cropped from the original shot?Rob.

Not a whole lot is cropped really Rob…about a 6th from the RHS to take out a passerby who walked into shot with her horse. Nothing from the top or bottom. Pretty much as shot.
As regards the DOF …well I cheated a bit (shock!! horror!!). I didn’t have as much background blur as I would have liked…so I used the Lens Blur filter in PS CS2 which is a pretty nifty filter and isolated the main subjects by tracing around them with the lasso tool and then inverting it..and tried to make it as realistic looking as possible.
Very Nice Robbie :) They are pretty adorable looking .. I don’t know if I’d be able to do it – but cloning out the bridel ropes at their noses would be SUPER … you seem to be handy at the old PS though ..sooooo
