It’s a pity they didn’t both look at the camera, but I was still pretty happy with this one. Suggestions for improvements would be welcome. Is the “unicorn” thingy a bit distracting?

It seems to be distracting the lady on the right, which is a shame because the
lady on the left has come out so nicely in this photo.

Hi Paper Doll! Don’t know about distracting, but the “unicorn thingy” does provide a visual clue that the pic was taken during a party. When you look at this pic again in a couple of years it will immediately remind you of what was happing at the time, so I guess it’s a good thing.

I’m guessing you used flash for this pic. If so, the unicorn’s horn appears to have reflected some of the flash light back. Your camera would have cut the flash early in this case, resulting in slight underexposure. This sort of thing is very difficult to anticipate when taking the picture. However it would be easy to adjust the levels in any photo editor, which I think would improve the overall look.

Great expressions, however, which is always the most important thing!

Thanks for the feedback…just wondering is there any way round this when you actually take the photo…should I have spot-metered from the faces or something like that?
