jonwrightParticipant
As new to DSLR just wondering, what’s the best memory card you would recommend?
Many thanks
JongoodlightimagesParticipantMy main card would be Sandisk III Extreme 30mb/s I’m very happy with it seems to be just perfect for my needs.
Hama and Kingston are pretty good too, used them both.jonwrightParticipantsteelydanParticipantThis is the 16 gig card i use and find it very good, you can get the 400X for €50 which is great value.

much appreciated ,thanks John
JonjonwrightParticipantjust checked the 400x seems excellent value for the card, going to ask stupid question, but take it this will fit my 500D ?
apologies for the ignorancejonwrightParticipant500d only takes sd cards, has anyone any experience of this one 16GB Integral Ultima Pro SDHC CL10 High-Speed memory card

many thanks
JonDepthOfFeelParticipantIv been using the Transcend cards mysefl too for a while now. Can fully vouch for them myself!
Picked up the 32gb CL10 SDHC card for £40 on amazon. Had no problems this past 3 months with it. The big bonus for me was the price and the fact it was class 10 means it can handle HD video on my 550d. I don’t know how much the class issue will be an issue if your not shooting video but a future proofing consideration possibly.
Just make sure you get an SD or SDHC card as opposed to the CF (compact flash) card which is linked below.
jonwrightParticipantjonwrightParticipantHi all, just received my Transcend class 10 16 gig card frm amazon today, just need to know if I should format the card in my 500d or?
Thanks
JonphillipMemberalways format the card in the camera, and when finished downloading the card, put back in camera and format it.
i personally wont have gone with the 16gb card, its fine if doing video, but i always carry 4gb cards just in case one fails.
as they say dont keep your eggs in one basket.phillip
jonwrightParticipantthanks Phillip for the advice,I’ll make sure next time to get 4 gig makes sense all right.
