Best place to buy lenses etc in Tokyo?

Hi All,

In a very timely manner, my Canon 17-85 lens has contracted the dreaded Aperture/focus ribbon fault.

I’ll be travelling to Tokyo in a couple of weeks and have done some google research on where to go for all things camera, particularly second hand stuff.

BUT….has anyone here got any special tips or guidelines as where and how to get the best quality at the best price in Tokyo?

Oh, have ordered the ribbon to repair my 17-85 so will repair it anyway, but wouldn’t mind looking for something a bit faster or wider anyway.

Well….after wearing out some shoe leather in Shinjuku in various shops I ended up picking up something small in the old reliable MAP.

For new gear there are some savings and if you get lucky (as I seem to have with my purchase) there are some decent second hand deals.
But, by and large, the second hand prices seem to be in line with what we can get here.

But maybe I missed the ‘real bargain shop’….
