They’re a bit on the wide side Sean – try to keep it at 800 pixels wide.

I think I prefer the second – there’s less distractions and the focal point becomes exclusively the car, or more importantly the driver. It’s a great capture – pin sharp. This is by no means easy and you probably realised there are many a non-keeper before you get one like this. Well done.

There’s nothing in the foreground to make you need to put the car at the top half of the frame. If you had flowers, trees, people etc blurred in the foreground it works if the car is in the top half, but plain track usually isn’t very interesting looking (unless it’s bright coloured with a sponsor logo or something). It’ll come with practice.

Just crop a big lump of the tarmac away, should help things. Try not be so side on if you can help it. The car ends up looking very 2 dimensional. Good stuff for your first try at the technique though.

I’m hoping the pic I have attached gives a better idea of the type of angle I’m thinking (I know it’s not a car but it’s got wheels and an engine so it’s a start!)

This ones far from perfect but gives an idea of what a shutter speed of 1/50sec looks like.

    Although 1/160 can be plenty!
