Two shots from yesterday afternoon –
C&C welcome as always…Windbreak…
Horizon…
Rob.
jb7ParticipantOf these two,
I’d prefer the horizon to the windbreak-All the interest is in the sky though,
and I’d maybe think of taking some sea out-Nice straight horizon,
though if you do take the sea out,
you may need to rotate that last 0.2 :Dj
SteveDParticipantRob the first one would be my favourite here. Those wooden posts really dominate the image. I might have been tempted to include more wood, and less beach/sky. Good potential for a B&W conversion I think. It may be my monitor, but I think there might be a slight green cast on both of these?
MartinParticipantTwo nice images, The first would be my favorite as its a simple but an effective composition. I like the detail in the train sleepers (would be interesting to see this one in a high contrast B+W) In the second image i would do as JB7 suggests and may be take a very small bit from the bottom
To very well exposed pictures, colours are really nice and natural. I agree with SteveD there is a slight green cast nothing to worry about though see how they print and if the cast comes over to printing
Martin
RobMemberThank you for the comments guys. You’ve given a couple of things
to think about here.Joseph, ‘Horizon’ is actually my favourite of the two also. Some sea has
already been cropped away, though perhaps it could tolerate a little more.
As for the rotation, I was rather pleased that I managed to get this so level
handheld. I’ve since measured, and your 0.2 is way off the mark. It’s a
meagre 0.145…Steve, that greenish cast has me baffled, and you’re not the first to comment
on it. Seems to be an issue with a few of my images. I’m wondering if perhaps
it could be the cheap UV0 filter I’m using because no colour adjustments
have been made here. Btw, I checked your website for those ‘perfect’ images
you mentioned, but I couldn’t locate any. Perhaps you’d better send me a direct
link…Martin, thanks for your comments. It never crossed my mind to try a conversion
of the first image, but now that you’ve put it into my head… Perhaps later on
this evening.Thanks again all,
Rob.

same thoughts. Perhaps a high contrast b&w?
