Bevel cut slip in mounts
-
BANNER25Participant
Hi im an amateur landscape photographer form County Clare. I would like to purchase some bevel cut slip in mounts to display and try and sell my prints. I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me where in ireland i can purchase these. I have done searches on google and can find sites in the U.K selling them but only in large quantities and carriage costs make them quite expensive
thanks
JohnMarkKeymasterJohn,
First off, welcome to the site !. We had a site trip to Doolin last Autumn and still have the good memories of the area :)
Anyhow, to your question. One of our sponsors whom alot of the members use are Framing Fantastic.
I’m sure if you get in touch Shane there will sort you out. Let him know you came via the site here.
BANNER25ParticipantThanks very much for the info Mark. I will take a look at their site this evening
best regards

PaulDivParticipantHi,
I had the same problem and ended up making my own mounts.
The problem was finding a cood cutter and I found one at FrameCo.If you buy the cheapest cutter, which costs about €60, you can cut mounts
up to 24×24 inch. The cutter comes with a 26 inch steel rule that has a grove along one side that
the cutter slides along.Making mounts is very easy with this kit and double mounts are just as easy.
You will pay about €4 – €5 for each sheet of board from various Irish suppliers.
Oh and the mounts this tool cuts are very clean and professional.
Have fun.
deeorganParticipantgreat to see this thread. I had a similar question. I also need mounts for landscape prints. I’ve concidered both getting a supplier and buying a cutter, but which would you recommend as the cheaper or better quality option?
Also. I’d like to put a title under the print. I was thinking I could put another cut in the mount below the print where the text would fit. Has anyone done this before or have any other ideas? do the Mount suppliers mentioned above, do this kind of thing? Also, does anyone know where I can get a protective plastic sleeve to put each print in, for display, so that they stay clean?
Thanks,
DeePaulDivParticipantHi Dee,
You can get pre-cut double mounts from Midland Frames. Google them and create an account because you need to sign
up before you can see their price list. You are automatically added to the their mailing list and they use this from time
to time to let their customers know about any special offers they have. The double mounts start at €1.20 and go up to €9 so this might be the best option if you just want to get started.
I bought the cutter only because I didnt know of anyone in Ireland selling pre-cut mounts.
With regard to suitable print sleeves it would depend on the size you refer to.
Framer149ParticipantHere at Framing Fantastic based just outside Antrim would be able to supply mounts cut to size as required. We also provide self seal polypropylene bags for display purposes. Standard frame sizes are available to order online via our online shop, for non standard panoramic drop us a line for a quote.
