B&H Photo: USA vs. Imported

Having just purchased the d80 from B&h, it only worked out around 150 euro cheaper than here as it has come down in price here in the last month. I had forgotten tax doesnt show in their list price! Anyhow difference between US and Import goods in B&H (and it tells you on their website if you click on “import”) is , that US models can be returned to any Nikon dealer in the US (doesnt mention abroad) and import models have to be returned to B&h to be repaired. Looking at getting the SB600 through B& H as it is considerably cheaper than here. The Mack 5yr warranty is around 100euro by the way.

Everyone, thanks a million for the feedback on this. I’ve read so many contradictions on this topic on the web, i’m still slightly confused. I’m just going to go for import and hope to jaysus nikon do build better equipment than … eh hem…ahh anyway :). I’ll going to risk it for a biscuit, do it for a chewit and tell you my horrible sob story when it all goes wrong. Thanks again. :)

“Risk it for a biscuit” !!! “Do it for a chewit” !!!

Talk about a blast from the past.

That brings me back to the early eighties and first fumbles at school discos. These “chat up” lines were considered de rigeur to show how funny you were. You forgot “would you be willin for a shillin”.

Surprisingly, these proved to be very ineffective for getting a snog during a slow set. What are you doing for your inter proved a lot better

Hope the purchase goes well, and thanks for the little bit of nostalgia

You won’t go wrong with the import Ali, well worth it. Everything well padded and packed securely. The only horrible part is waiting for the postman.

Nikon warranties are valid worldwide for lenses/accessories and regional for cameras,USA warranty is no good here, same as for stuff bought from Hong Kong

 It’s funny you say that – i get prints from Photobox in the UK and the poor postman’s heart is broken trying to get me out of bed ;).
He’s always giving out to me and i’m only in the place a couple of weeks.

Thanks again all for the info.

Well guys, i have my sb800 – WOO HOO. No stopping me now. :) Saved a whopping 200 euro on the flash so strongly contemplating buying another. Unfortunately they hadn’t the 1.4 so i’ll have to wait until the next time she goes across. 70-200 is looking promising though.
