Hi Ken,
I’ve seen a few of these scenes around here in the last few years.
They can look great when driving past but for some reason I have failed
to get a convincing image.I think the mono image is the most successful of the two.
I’m not sure if the horizontal lines at the bottom add to the image.
I have scrolled to the verical lines to create an onscreen crop but
can’t make up my mind.Interesting nevertheless.
John.
BrickerParticipantHi,
Well, I prefer the B&W.
Maybe it sounds a bit daft, but looking at it I feel like standing up for a better view? The horizontal lines in the foreground may be causing it…. or the glass of shiraz
kenhParticipantRobMemberMuch much better Ken…
John’s suggested crop to lose the horizontals is a very
definite improvement. Very nice mono conversion too…GizzoParticipantto be honest I prefer the b/w but full image.
I like the effect of the polyethylene film :)PD_BARBSParticipantI prefer the cropped version Ken, the horizontal lines were a distraction. Nice job.
dar_dParticipantBlack and White definetly for me…Like john said,,,,these scenes are everywhere but very hard to make them look well like you have
kenhParticipantAppreciate all your comments guys – oddly enough it was the sky that made me stop the car – the “crop lines” were a second
thought – I agree that the BW version without the H lines is best.Cheers
DeeboParticipantBrickerParticipantkenhParticipantBrickeeParticipantLast crop for me too!!!! I like the sky in the conversions and the lowered distractions in the last.
JodyParticipantI definitely prefer the B&W Ken, but I don’t think it needed to be cropped. The contrast of the lines in the B&W is much more prominant than in the colour, and I think the cropped version looses something for not having the horizontal (ish) cut field… possibly just because there isn’t enough of the field in the cropped version.
Horses and courses etc. I suppose
aoluainParticipantIm with Jody on this too !
The cropped version is actually creating an optical illusion
where the right hand side seems to be higher than the left hand side
becaust of the angle this was shot. You can just see at the bottom left how the plastic lines are coming short
and not bleeding out of the frame, that is causing that illusion and you cannot
crop more so I say the first mono is the one!Alan
