Bird ID – Thrush? Critique welcome.

    Howdy,

Took this one in my parents garden over Christmas.

Is it a Thrush? I just realised I was too lazy to actually look in a bird book to see if I could identify it myself.

Anyway, any comments most welcome, I’ve seen better bird shots on this forum for sure. I’ve cloned out a small twig which was protruding from around his head somewhere, can you tell?

    Thanks for looking,

    Alan

    Dunnock, aka hedge sparrow.

It’s a wee bit small in the frame, maybe a tad warm and there’s a bit much in the way of twigs in the shot. You need to isolate the subject like in a portrait.

Its definately not a Thrush. I dont think its a Dunnock either. The Dunnocks bill is supposed to be black as far as I know. The beak on the bird in the picture looks like its not black.

It is most definitely a Dunnock.

100% Dunnock ;) Very pretty little birds :) I think some good advice was given, and I do like to see an animal in its natural habitat, but perhaps a bit less cluttered. They’re not the easiest to photo in my limited experience anyway, as they like to kep close to thick hedge.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback.

I agree that it would be improved if the bird was a little more isolated.
